2011: Caring About Excellence

I recently had the opportunity to meet with a patient as he was being discharged from one of our facilities. His biggest disappointment was that he had to leave. Imagine that. He felt so cared for that he simply wanted to stay. Wouldn’t it be great if every patient had the same positive experience?

It is with that thought that I welcome you to a new year in excellence at Kettering Health Network. I am humbled and excited about the opportunity to serve you, our employees, physicians and volunteers – all for the benefit of our patients and our community. I am eager to expand the reach of our mission by embracing excellence in all we do. I want you to share that same passion.

Every patient deserves our very best, every time, everywhere. Excellence is evident when we have a passion for the work by making a personal connection advocating for the patient and anticipating their needs. I cannot think of a reason why we should settle for providing anything less.

There are many facilities that are part of Kettering Health Network, yet we are not as much a network of buildings and programs, as a network of talented caring individuals. My vision is that patients will experience the same level of excellence regardless of where they are treated. As a network, we will meet our highest potential as we break down barriers, share excellence and collaborate until we lift each other to the highest possible standards for our patients.

Excellence begins with each of us. I truly believe that when we grasp the sacredness of our work, we become inspired to serve our patients with nothing less than our best. We have to be willing, without fear, to look at what needs to be improved. It will not always be easy as we face change, yet we will face it together knowing that every improvement we make will better serve our patients.  Striving together for our patients has the potential to become the most rewarding work we have ever done in our lives.
